Simple Healthy Dog Treat Recipe Apple Pretzels

I have a new recipe this week that’s only a slight variation on last week’s recipe. This time instead of cookies, we’ll be cooking pretzels.

You’ll need four ingredients for this recipe

  • 2 cups of Flour
  • 3/4 cups of Oatmeal
  • 1 cup of Unsweetened Applesauce
  • An egg

First, preheat your oven to 350⁰

While your oven is heating up, scramble your egg and set it aside.

Mix your flour, oatmeal, and applesauce with most of your egg. Save 1 tablespoon of egg for use later.

Using your hands, grab a small portion of the dough to shape. This was my first time making these treats, so I just eyeballed the amount. The recipe I was following said to use a two tablespoon size piece of dough.

Use flour to keep the dough from being too sticky while you roll it into a tube.

Shape the tube into a U shape, cross the ends and then fold them over to create a pretzel shape.

Place them on a pan with parchment paper.

Use a brush to apply the rest of your egg over your pretzels.

I didn’t have a brush, so I did my best. Bake the pretzels at 350⁰ for 25-30 minutes until they are firm and golden brown.

You can see where the egg was applied, the pretzel has a shiny more pretzely look. Wait for the treats to cool to room temperature before giving them to your pupper.

They taste pretty good. As a snack, they are healthy and easy to make. They make for excellent dog treats. I hope you enjoy making these!

As always, have a great week and take good care of yourselves and your furry friends. Make sure to like and subscribe if you’ve enjoyed this post and would like to see more like it. Leave a comment and tell me how your treats turned out!
