Can dogs eat oranges?

Oranges are a yummy treat that people all over the place enjoy. They are juicy and sweet and have a tangy flavor that delights the taste buds and to add to all that, they are very healthy. But, does that mean your dog can eat them?

Oranges are actually okay for your dog to eat in small amounts, meaning one to three sections per day. They are nutritious and full of fiber, but there are some things to be aware of when feeding oranges to your pupper. The peel is not a good snack for your dog. It isn’t poisonous, but it may become lodged in their digestive tract, causing health issues. You also no to make sure to remove all the seeds from the fruit before feeding it to your pet, as it poses a choking hazard.

Dogs actually produce enough Vitamin C on their own, so the high content in an orange is not necessarily beneficial to your puppy. Oranges, like any other treat, should be given in moderation. Some dogs may not like their tangy flavor and some dogs might eat them so fast they barely even get a taste.

So next time you’re eating an orange, don’t hesitate to toss a section or three over to your furry friend. I’m sure they’ll appreciate the treat, and you can rest easy knowing that you’ve just given them a healthy and delicious snack.
